About José
Better known as Joo Skellington.
Self taught, plastic artist, specialized in makeup effects, props, scenery and art.
His work made him win the "Giving Back Scholarship" from the Makeup Artist Magazine to study in Los Angeles in the acclaimed Cinema Makeup School when he was 19.
Once in California, he started his career in special effects. Joo then did an Internship program at MEL for 2 years.
Winner of more than 16 International awards in events such as: San Diego Comic Con, IMATS, Wondercon and Monsterpalooza, winning first places and also awards such as "the most innovative artist", " the best costume designer", "best recreation and honorable mention", "best original design", "artist of the year", and more.
Joo has been featured in various news papers, media pages and magazines such as BuzzFeed, Unilad, Daily Mail UK, LA Times, San Diego On Tribune, Yahoo, Cosmopolitan, The Makeup Artist Magazine, PopSugar, 9Gag, and Ok Chicas, among other, for his unique transformations
José is best known for bringing animated characters to real life monsters.
Currently, he is an official judge for makeup, costume fabrication and cosplay, his work has made him an official guest at events all over the world like makeup shows, trade shows to costume and special effects conventions including Comic, Manga and Cosplay conventions in Europe, Mexico, Middle East, Canada, South America and The United States of America
Joo has worked with companies such as Raze TV, MTV, Cosmopolitan, Azteca TV, Televisa and brands such as European Body Art, Mac Cosmetics and Anime Expo.
